Super Eagles star William Troost-Ekong has completed a move from Dutch giants KAA Gent to Bursaspor, the Turkish side confirms.
The defender made the move reported to be around €2 million, signing
the three-year contract after successful completion of medical on
Saturday.
“Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong and his club in Belgium KAA
Gent have agreed in principle and the player will sign a three-year
contract after health check,” Bursaspor said in a statement of their
website.
Troost-Ekong made eight appearances in all competition for Gent in
six months after returning from a two year loan deal at Norwergian side
Haugesund where he served as the club’s captain.
But the 23-year old went on to thank the fans of Gent for their tremendous support during his stay at the club.
“I would like to say a big thank you to all the fans of @KAAGent for
supporting me in my short time with the club,” the defender wrote via
his Twitter handle, @wtroostekong.
“I wish you all the best in the coming season, in the league and playing in Europe.”
“I enjoyed playing in front of you in the Ghelamco Arena. Thank you Buffalos!.”
Troost-Ekong joins Cristian Chagas Tarouco – Paul Le Guen’s second
signing this summer – who also completed his move on Saturday.
